Madelyn got her ears pierced

So...after some long thinking. I decided to get Madelyn's ears pierced yesterday! All I could think of was how much I remember my experience getting my ears pierced with my cousin, Jessica. I kept thinking it wasn't a goo experience and I didn't want Maddie to remember getting them done. Plus if she decides she doesn't want them then they can grow back! I am super excited and she looks so cute! Love them!! Now to buy her some earrings! So much fun!

It's Been Awhile...

Ok, so Easter and Spring has come and gone. And Summer is upon us! Really though...we are both just bad at this whole blogging thing so here is our "quarterly" update!

In the last week in April I had carpal tunnel release surgery performed on both hands. Yes, I said both! I didn't think it was a really big deal until i arrived at the hospital and all the nurses and staff were astonished that i was having both done. Hey...i'm just doing what the doctor said we were going to do. I didn't know any better. So, in any case I have been off work and on medical disability since April, 21 2010. Today i was cleared to return to work on July 6th.

My recovery has gone fairly well. I'm just at the point where I still need to use my head on what I can handle with my hands over the next 3 or 4 months. Geesh...all this over a car accident. For those who don't know, the carpal tunnel was a result of a rear end accident I had in January of last year. The doctors determined that the force of the accident went into my writs as I was holding the steering wheel during the collision. It's been a long 3 months...but the original problems have ceased and time to get on with life.

On to other happenings -

My little Madelyn isn't staying so little! She's growing so much and learning new stuff everyday! She had tubes put in late May and the ear infections have ceased and she even seems to be picking up a lot more words since then.

Here's a little list of her words now:

  • Da Da
  • Ooops
  • Uh-oh
  • Dog
  • Jayce (one of our dogs)
  • Apple
  • Ma Ma
  • Up
  • Juice
  • Kix
  • Bath
  • Ball
  • Woof
  • Snake

Madelyn is running all over the place and ge
t's into anything she can. She's able to climb up and down stairs, and up and down the couches too.

She has also been too the pool on several occasions. It still takes a few minutes for her to get into it. Mostly she'll just sit in her float and chill out splashing around and rocking back and forth as she floats around.

Melissa and Ben update

So here is the update on us!

Melissa -

Lost my job at the end of January and I am loving being at home for now. I am have filed for unemployement and have been looking for a new job closer to home. I have been doing a wonderful job at keeping the house clean and have done some much needed purging of my closet! Madelyn has been still going to daycare at Ms. Cynthia's house and will until next week unless something changes. I will be then heading to SC to see my family and to watch the BC Alumni Soccer game after Madelyn's doctor appt. next week. I look forward to being there a couple of days more than just a quick weekend!

Ben -

Is still working at Firestone in Conyers, but they just put a new manager from the Howell's Mill location there instead of officially putting Ben in charge. The higher ups say it is a trial period, but we will see how the new guy does in Conyers. We are disappointed that they told Ben that they wanted him and then changed their minds. Only thing new on him so far!

We currently aren't sure what is going to happen next but we are putting it into God's hands! There is a reason for everything and hopefully a door will open for either one of us or the whole family! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we wait and see what happens!

Madelyn 10 months old

I can't believe that my baby girl, Madelyn, turned 10 months old on Feb. 2nd! She has grown so much since she was born! I praise God every day for my miracle he has given me! She has the following new things going on:

* Has 4 teeth up top that have pushed through and coming slowly but surely

* Began saying "Uh Oh" before she drops things, afterwards, and just for the fun of it.

* Has a beautiful closed eyed green that I get every morning when I wake her up

* Says "Da Da" very clearly but no "Ma Ma" yet. We are still working on that!

* Is crusing like crazy but not into the whole walking yet

* We are trying to wean from bottle to sippy cup but not successful yet

* She is riding in a big girl seat that my mom gave her for christmas, but not facing forward yet.

Unfortunately, we are still having problems with ear infections. She was given a stronger medicine and hope it works since she has had one on and off since before Thanksgiving! I will be posting some pics too! There will be another blog with updates on Ben and me next!

Madelyn's First Christmas

This year has been wonderful watching Madelyn grow day by day! Her first christmas was great too! She didn't really know what was going on but wanted to open everyone else's presents and not her own. She did enjoy seeing the family since it has been a couple months. Madelyn has begun crawling and crusing l ike crazy and getting into all kinds of trouble. She is definiately babbling a lot but nothing that makes sense. I really enjoy listening to her and she keeps me very busy. Madelyn has had two ear infections since before Thanksgiving. She has her 9 month appointment this Friday and I am makign sure they check her ears again. The doctor said that if she has another one then we will have to go to the ENT (Ear,Nose, Throat Doctor) to see about tubes! So keep us in your prayers that it will be cleared up finally!! We have had some other new information too.

Since after Thanksgiving holiday, Ben has been given temporary management to the Firestone in Conyers, but nothing permenant yet! We keep waiting but they aren't telling him anything! We are just patiently waiting for word on what is going on with his position and as soon as we know we will let you know! We are hoping that this job will lead us back to South Carolina soon but we are just praying and waiting.
I still have my job in payroll for a green company that moved in September to Peachtree corners area. I have a commute in the morning and evening around an hour to two hours. It really is wears me out but I am glad to have a job! I have been looking but with the economy it is difficult to find one closer to home.

Otherwise, we are doing well. it has gotten colder here and is in the mid to low 30's as the high and teens for the lows. From what a friend said the forcasters are calling for snow this thursday and friday...which I am sure is not in the atlanta area but the upper northern areas closer to the mountian, but we will see. I have mixed feeling about it. I would really like Madelyn to see snow but I depise snow and the coldness it brings! LOL!!

Anyways, I hope ya'll had a wonderful Christmas holiday and New Year! God Bless ya'll this yeaar from the Hesketts!! :)
